Moisture From Henriette to Miss Southern California

Posted September 5, 2007, 7:38 PM.

Remnants of the latest Pacific Ocean hurricane, Henriette, were predicted to miss Southern California as they enter the United States on Thursday.

After crossing the Gulf of California and hitting the mainland Mexican coastline, Henriette was predicted to hit near the New Mexico and Arizona border as a tropical depression.

Earlier in the week, there was some possibility that the storm's track would take it into the California deserts.

Henriette passed over the tip of Baja California on Tuesday as a category one hurricane. It claimed six lives in Acapulco a few days earlier.

Henriette is the second Pacific hurricane of the season. Earlier in August, Hurricane Flossie passed to the south of Hawaii before dissipating.

The National Hurricane Center has more information on Henriette while it remains active.
