Tuesday Morning Coldest of 2006 to Date

Many WeatherCurrents communities recorded low temperatures into the 20's Tuesday in what was the coldest morning of the year. All-time station records fell in Murrieta, Lake Elsinore, Fallbrook and De Luz.

Murrieta was a record 27.9°F, eclipsing the previous record of 28.4°F, set on December 1, 2004. This will be the Murrieta station's fourth winter.

Temecula recorded 30.0°F, the coldest temperature of the year. The record low is 25.4°F on January 31, 2002, which remains the coldest temperature recorded by a WeatherCurrents station.

Sun City recorded 27.7°F, also the coldest temperature of the year. The all-time low was 26.4°F on November 30, 2004. This will be the Menifee Valley station's third winter.

Lake Elsinore came in at 30.2°F, the coldest temperature on record at that location. Operations began in Lake Elsinore in January, 2005.

Fallbrook's 38.1°F and De Luz's 37.9°F, although not in the freezing range, were the lowest recorded at each station.

Riverside and Hemet did not break any records Tuesday morning.

Freezing temperatures and frost were expected to continue Wednesday and Thursday mornings as well.
