At an average temperature of 88.1°F, Saturday was the warmest overall day recorded since the Temecula weather station began operations in August, 1999.
The previous warmest day was September 1, 2002, at 87.9°F.
The hottest day record came in spite of thunderstorms that dropped almost half an inch of rain and dropped temperatures more than 25°F Saturday evening.
The day had gotten off to a warm start with a low of only 76.7°F, the highest low ever recorded. Saturday's high of 111.3°F was also the highest high temperature ever recorded at the Temecula location. |
